Re: The huge forum crash....

Yeah I have noticed that. It seems to happen more randomly, not necessarily in relation to how fast you navigate around. For example, once it happened to me when I was navigating to the site for the first time that day.

Re: The huge forum crash....

Nice to see that you've resurrected the forum, Rutger. I use the DS-10 occasionally and it would be neat to see the community gain some activity.

Nice to hear more of your frenetic, cheerful chip music. Some parts of this one are reminiscent of the GB Donkey Kong OST :D

Re: Have a problem...

Good evening, I have been on my ds-10 tonight for the first time and I have already run into a problem. When I place a number of song parts into the pattern screen and try to play my song it will only play one pattern at a time.I play ptn1 then try to play ptn2 and ptn1 stops playing :? Also I seem ...

Re: gravis

I agree with DS-10 Dominator, the monotony in the drums is one of the biggest issues. One basic way to fix that is to save the current beat for the end of 4 or 8 bar phrases and make it more sparse in the other measures. I also agree that having the drums drop out at some point is a good idea. Other...

Re: SITEB - Utitled Song

Interesting, you have somewhat of an additive approach. If you'd like an example of how you could fit 2 more instruments (lead and bass), I made a file (combining your material and what I imagined) that you can view if you have a flashcart/emulator and the Korg DS-10 Rom. If you want to see it, I'll...

Re: SITEB - Couple of Remixes

Thanks, I look forward to your video. It sounds like you are applying a sine wave shaped ADSR to both amplitude and filter cutoff (the latter via EG INT I assume). This is different from the patching method which involves applying a sine wave LFO to cutoff but not also to amplitude. Do you manipulat...

Re: SITEB - Couple of Remixes

You have really nice dubstep basses (or maybe it's the same one each time). I'd be interested in seeing your patch if you're willing to put it up.

Re: SITEB - Utitled Song

What about using a synth part for the second bass drum? I realize the drum samples have a somewhat different form but it still might be possible to recreate the second bass drum using the open synth part during the drop. Also, you might try having the snare double as hihat by inputting the hat part ...

Re: SITEB - Utitled Song

This is pretty good, I just think it needs to be fleshed out more. The primary sections are begging for a lead and bass to be added to the texture. For example, I can imagine a mellow brass synth w/slight delay playing a fast running/syncopated line over the chords. Also, the chaotic percussion soun...

Re: Club Vigil

Loving this. Submitted to reddit . And, yeah.. Sonic. :D Thanks. I didn't know about this reddit site :P This is way cool. The vibrato's in the fills are amazing, but I think the rest of the time they should be a little softer to make it more groovy. I also think this song would benifit if the bass...

DS-10 Dominator wrote:I liked the plucked sound a lot more than this wooden flute like sound.
Really? I like it better -- its distance and timbre blend in better with the full texture, yet it is still distinguished enough to be the focal point.

Re: Club Vigil

Thanks for the comments! ...maybe I would like a more acid (I think this is the term) bassline, like at a slightly higher pitch and more pow-pow. I will keep this in mind and possibly try it out. Love the track, and the vibrato seems right to me: It adds to the spirit and retro spunk of the piece. A...

Re: Club Vigil

Like Bryface I enjoyed the progression a melody. Sounds are cool too. The vibrato doesn't trouble me...perhaps when it is the last note in a phrase it could be toned down but not a serious issue; I think it sounds cool leading directly into another note. I'm always fascinated by the ingenuity of pe...

Re: Club Vigil

The vibrato comes down to personal taste, because I think it is perfect at its current width. The drum slots are taken by kick, snare/hihat, and the two background synths (and then later by bass, kick, snare/hihat, and 1 background synth). To get a fuller texture I think I'd need DS-10+ because I al...

Re: Duerme Ylenia

Good timbres as already stated. The harmony is pretty good too, reminiscent of Gorecki's Symphony No.3 or the music of Arvo Part -- heavily diatonic, but embracing the dissonances and using lots of pedal tones. One criticism is that the plucked instrument's rubato sounds too abrupt -- it should have...
