Re: Varying the amount of steps causes tuplets & polyrhythm...

That's awesome! I guess since the swing makes that first step longer it puts it out of time when you reduce the sequence to one step? I'm so gonna use this some day What I did in the past was the extremely direct method of setting patterns to 12 steps, and then putting a 'quarter note' every 3 steps...

Re: A settings/patch collection

Oh wow someone's using my template! I'm psyched! I've been playing with some of these. The chimes/weird strings are super cool, but they seem to have broken as soon as I added that kick drum you made. When I go back into the kick drum and remove its patch cables, the string sound comes back strong a...

Extreme glitch/noise. The use of vocals is very smart, works well on the brain :D.

Who IS this? I really like it.

I'll see that noise and raise you this noise with some Autechre :D

modern minimalism HTCwTgaWnYw My main musical project right now is very inspired by this, more on that soon. I actually came back here to look this one track up again... I need to track some of these down. Also, I just found out a band I really like uses the DS-10 on their newest album! wiWnGY-0IFU...

Re: Always keep an eye on that power

hmm. hadn't thought of that but I guess I could have a cheapy computer just for recording purposes. I'd assumed I would build a windows 7 machine at some point in the future when the itch to upgrade to a better photoshop got the better of me.. I guess all I'd really need to spend money on would be a...

Re: Influences

Man I could list a lot of stuff, too. A lot of it falls into Post-Rock and New Wave. I also like Noise and Ambient music. My classic influences - definitely Joy Division/New Order, Kraftwerk, Suicide, Brian Eno, David Bowie (especially his ambient stuff like the last half of Low), Radiohead, Yoko Ka...

Re: Always keep an eye on that power

This is maybe a dumb question, but do you know if this card plays nice with Linux? Edit: Nevermind, I checked. I'm disappointed. Maybe I'll get around to building a second box to run Windows on someday or keep poking around to see if somebody got this thing working under Wine. Someone with an NDS ad...

Re: Always keep an eye on that power

I wish I could just pull the file off and run fsck on it and have everything be all better but yeah... :( So far I'm trying to recreate it. I remember a decent chunk of the notation, but the patches were all happy accidents I made in the car on the way home without headphones, so I don't know if I'l...

Always keep an eye on that power

Ugh. I just had my DS run out of juice the exact moment I hit save. The file corrupted. It was a new one I started tonight (with patches I didn't save) - and it was shaping up really well. I'm so upset. So today's protip is when you're at home, remember to alway work with you DS plugged in. Incident...

Re: Re: Creating chords - Updated via NeoS

Yeah I figured that one out when I tried it myself just now. Something I noticed is that it seems to be impossible to tune VCO2 exactly to the third. I'm hearing pretty clear beats at settings both sharp and flat. I got it tuned to the fifth, though. Will have to play with this more. Thanks for the ...

Re: Re: Creating chords - Updated via NeoS

that's cool. I've used my keyboard to tune VCO2 to the third before, but it slipped my mind to just use the other synth XD.

So five steps down on the KAOSS is a half step? Does that mean we can use it to modulate VCOs in microtones?

And now I feel incredibly silly for having spent the afternoon making a patch template when there is apparently already a perfectly fine one floating around XD.

Synth Patch Diagram Card Template

Edit: D'oh! I apparently didn't look close enough. Syscrusher already made a really good one. Hey, guys, I had an idea for something that I could make that might make it easier to share synth patch info. Basically, it's a diagram of the pertinent screens for creating a sound that you can mak...

Bleep Bloops - Glitchy W.I.P.

[soundcloud]http://soundcloud.com/raucouskarasu/bleep-bloops-wip[/soundcloud] Made this in about half an hour one night in Schism Tracker, which I don't use nearly enough. The first 36 seconds or so I really like. Not entirely sure about the drums (I just slapped them on instead of really tailoring ...

Re: NeoS -- Disco

Damn that's good work with those chords. Didn't think someone would find the space on this thing to do much past major and minor chords, but wow.. that bridge (where syscrusher's first comment is). I've been thinking about trying to carefully control VCO2's pitch by step or pattern to make different...

Re: Sidaki (Work In Progress)

I'm in the same boat. I'll learn about something music theory related and immediately go to me DS to try it out! It's funny, but also, I started getting my head around drums a little better once I started playing them every day on Rock Band  I don't know if it will be helpful to you, and reall...
