I really like it when it gets all detuned and strange.

Looking for tips and ideas on arranging

Does any one know of any places with info on this, or books or something. I'm well studied in music theory, I know my chords and scales... but I'm sometimes at a loss as to how to use them in making a nice arrangement. Where the progression sounds nice and natural and not really forced. Arranging an...

Unfinished Business

I haven't been making music much lately, busy with other things... but that's about to change and I just finished this song on M01. It uses a bass sound that screams "Seinfeld"... and well has an overall retro aesthetic. Which usually happens with the M01... but it's pretty fun anyways. I'm using a ...

Re: M01 worth 100 dollars?

It's hard to say then, you'd probably do better with the QY70... it works more as a 'conventional' instrument than M01. For me I love a good piano roll editor... so the M01 is about perfect. When I got the QY-70 I was really excited to be able to write and compose music anywhere. But I just could no...

Re: M01 cinematic episodes (WIP)

Episode 3 is really good. I like that dissonant piano. It keeps it on edge... Episode 4 is good too. Horns never sound on these things, but you get the most out of it. Episode 6 is really upbeat... I don't really have suggestions about fleshing them out... this is the stage where it's always tricky ...

Melody++

I started this track by writing this kind of chamber music thing... with Piano/strSection/Cello/Clarinet. Not knowing what direction to go with it, I decided to put this hiphop/funky beat thing in and surprisingly it sounded really cool...

Re: The Wound

Very evocative.

That's interesting that you pitch it down. What do you mean by changing your scale habits... that you find you naturally compose to a different scale on the M01?

Re: M01 worth 100 dollars?

I had a QY100 and Korg M01 is a world's difference in terms of usability. The QY100 had all the features it needed to compose and sequence music, but the user interface was so horrible that it made it really hard to compose. I guess you could hook up a midi keyboard and do it that way, but that defe...

Hey, sweet a fellow DS-10 user from Wisconsin.

I really like that synth-violin or whatever for the main melody. It sounds right out of a classic Rob Hubbord C64 tune...

Re: M01 Challenge - Creating a Song using only Drumkits!

I really like your track MistyMinds, it has a nice slow buildup for the groove.

Finally finished mine:

I almost had it done, but then got really busy... but now I have free time again and it is complete.

Re: Varying the amount of steps causes tuplets & polyrhythm...

Wow, that's a very interesting approach... I'll have to try that. I love throwing in triplet beats into my music and playing around with semi-polyrthmic grooves... but DS-10 makes this hard sometimes. I did triplets with the delay effect on a drum patch. And then changing the gate, one-shot it playe...

I'm working one this challenge right now. We'll see how it turns out. :?

Shore leave isn't too bad. I quite like it.

I haven't made a strictly 8bit song. This is the only completed piece I have that uses the plugin: Nintendo Ground Party.

Are we talking about the same thing? The magical 8bit plugin just recreates/emulates the Nintendo sound hardware in a plugin... has it been updated to do more?

Re: DNA

Nice use of the delay! Triplets are a rarity in DS-10 music. I thought a double time thing was going to happen @ 1:42 but no... kinda cool because the phrase was superimposed over the regular beat to good effect @ 1:51. Yeah I agree... the timing in this music is very interesting. It seems off kilt...

Magical 8bit plugin?

Any one use this? Have any music to show off that uses it?

I've made one piece that uses it, and play around with it from time to time.

I love having the Nintendo noise generator.
