recording software?

Currently just using audacity, but would like to do more. probably gonna wind up getting ableton, but not sure I need all that. Wondering what would be my best bet. Also would like tracker style program that i can record and use my own samples in. Advice please. Thanks.

Tracker with recording: try Nitrotracker (DS) http://nitrotracker.tobw.net/ or http://www.renoise.com/ (PC, Mac)

I've got Reaper and it's great and really cheap for all features you got out of the box.
