M01 in U.S.

Post by soultron » Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:27 am

I haven't heard much about a state side release yet, but I have a friend in Japan who said he'd get me a copy before he comes over in a month.
He said he might be willing to get a few more if we paid up front. Then I could just ship them, so we'd all save on shipping.
Is anyone interested?

How much?
Would I need a Japanese DS/DSi?

On the subject of this, my bro won't be coming to the US as scheduled, but we're still working on him shipping some over. I was hoping for it to be as close to retail as possible, just cause the ones on Ebay are crazy.

Well, looks like we're out of luck. Xseed has a forum for suggestions, and someone brought up the Korg M01 and was promptly shot down.

TL;DR, Because the M01 is not made by Xseed's parent company, they can't/wont port it.

Still have to buy the jack cartridge to use the rom in a DS, and a micro SD card. And the extra trouble getting it going properly. No savings there. Might as well just buy the original and get trouble free usage out of it.

If Amazon.co.jp wasn't restricted from selling them to US addresses, with shipping it would still be over $100, so there's no difference buying one of the eBay offerings. If they're never going to sell them here, I'm just going to go for it.

Flash cards are dirt cheap, usually come with an sd card, are really easy to set up and can be used for loads of other stuff.

Yeah, after reading that forum post on the xseed website it dashed all my hopes of having a US release. I just ordered it off ebay... its not that bad of a price for music software really. It sounds like the fact that DS-10 was released in the US was just a publishing coincidence/novelty... instead of a full effort to make the DS a platform for music software...
