Important questions about the Korg M01

Post by UncleBibby » Sun Feb 20, 2011 6:58 pm

I wasn't sure if I should post this topic, but Harley said it was okay, and I think these five questions are on a lot of people's minds.

1. Is M01 out in North America yet?
2. If it's not, when will it be out in North America?
3. Is M01 out in Europe yet?
4. If it is out in Europe, would it be a better idea to import it from there instead of importing it from Japan (due to the language difference)?
5. Would an imported M01 work on a North American Nintendo DSi?

I'm sure that all of these questions can be answered, but I think that they all need to be answered in one place for posterity.
Oonts-oonts-oonts-oonts...

It is english only in the Japanese version of M01 so you dont have to worry about that.

You have to try it. The M01 is the best thing that has happened to the DS :)
The sound tweaking isnt equally huge as in DS10 but there are over 300 sounds to choose from so it should be no problem there. And dont forget to combine different sounds. For example its nice to have 2 drum tracks (with the same pattern) with 2 different drumkits and the same to the main melody etc.. It sure does miracles! It makes the sound really fatty =)

... not only that - but you can 'Humanise' the tracks by getting the notes to play slightly out of time with each other using the gate function for each individual note set to 0.25, 0.5 or 0.75 length of a beat. . . . cool! :D

The sounds are good but there's no way to modulate.... that's the biggest difference, it makes it less a synth and more a sampler... (which is why it's a ROMpler indeed)

Can you alter the chord shapes within the M01?
