Avatar problem

Hello all! Call me stupid but i can't seem to add an avatar that is small enough, even if i scale down an image so it's tiny and only a few pixels I still go over the limit. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I change the pixel width and height so they're no more than 180px, the resolution is at 72 and i'm saving as jpeg, still not working, HELP!

Save as a .gif should make the file way smaller.

Thank you! Big help, I now have my avatar up and running.

One more question, is there a way to get email notifications for when somebody replies to a topic you've previously posted on? Or do you just have to keep a keen eye for updates?

well there is an option (tick box at the bottom) "Notify me when a reply is posted" when you reply or post a new topic... don't know what it does though

i cant seem to get my avatar picture to work i changed the pixels and saved it as a gif but nothing seems to work. i dont know what im doing wrong
