Experiment using west end girls

Post by trnsprnt » Tue Nov 22, 2011 9:41 pm

Hi, all!

This is some sort of song I made using West End Girls by Pet Shop Boys. It still needs a bit of work, anyway.

That's cool - Pet shop Boys are a good role model for Korg Ds10+ - their first album 'Please' was a brilliant piece of work. . . . . . Well done!

Although this was made with korg M01, I know what you mean. Actually, even though their first demos were recorded with just a Korg MS10, I find it too hard to create real sounds with ds-10.

DS10+ - I actually find it better to create more 'authentic' sounds with - tinkering with some of the finer points to take the sound away frm 'beeps; and 'chiptune' sounds.

Do you have ds10+? as well as M01?

Sure! In my soundcloud/youtube accounts most songs are made with ds-10/+. The only problem is that I have a standard euro nds, so no + for me yet. I'll have to import a dsi, sometime...

By the way, don't you have any space where I can find what you come up with the korgs?

Oh, and about the sounds. Yes, ds-10 is 100 times more flexible, with all the editing and patching possibilities. And while I love to spend hours just playing with sounds, sometimes I find it really hard to make "not annoying" sounds. Korg m01 is great for me because of the great sampled instruments. Choose one and start creating But I love both synths, anyway. : )

Hi, I've put a couple of things up on soundcloud. I was never happy with the sound quality of soundcloud uploads as it seems to lose a lot of the dynamics when you upload: It sounds so much better live. the panning especially seems to sound poor

Nice "riff" on the tune. I like how you took the basic sound elements (the pad, the cool bass) and made something of your own with it.

Yes, that was my intent, to take some cool sounds from the song and try to make something else. But as with all my other songs, it lacks melody and it's too repetitive.

Anyways, thanks for commenting!
