Korg Monotron

Post by Syscrusher » Tue Jul 13, 2010 6:37 pm

Just got my Korg Monotron. I ordered it from Long and McQuade, the largest music chain in Canada. They had none in stock here so I had to order it, but it came very quickly. Apparently I'm the first in Nova Scotia to get one (from them anyway...).

It's pretty cool. I've just unboxed it and fooled around a bit, nothing in depth yet.

It is a cool thing!

And because it's analogue it can easily be modded/hacked:

That light sensor modulator, very cool
And that modular extension WTF !! :D

I just ordered my second one. I have a mod all planned out. I've been in contact with a guy who makes inexpensive MIDI to CV converters and am going to use that in tandem with the dinsync mod:

When I'm done I will (hopefully) have a dual osc monosynth using my two Monotrons. It will be playable using Midi or CV either via keyboard or sequencer.

Great! That's essentially the same mod but done a little more elegantly. I intend to add MIDI as well as the CV/Gate.
Understood a lot of whathe was saying but will have to wait till my girlfriend gets home for a more complete translation.

Thanks for the heads up!

Nice! Germans are cool!

And Japanese too, it's funny KORG labeled all the contact points on the bottom of the circuit board.

I juuuuuust got one of these. After practicing for a while, I can finally play the "Wallace and Gromit" theme on it! Very fun.
