So, one thing i don't understand is why my youtube videos sound like total ass when uploaded.

I'd like to think my source videos are good quality - the audio quality sounds almost indistinguishable from that of my songs. But as soon as I upload the video to youtube, the high frequences totally get ripped to shreds and everything sounds really muddy, even at 720p.
there are plenty of other DS-10 videos online by other people that sound super clean and free of distortion.
is there some youtube setting i don't know about? is there a particular audio codec that i need to be using that will survive the youtube conversion process?
some help would be really appreciated, because i want to put more videos up, but the audio quality ends up being terrible. what gives?

Re: getting better youtube audio quality
I always encode the audio stream to AAC myself, instead of trusting YouTube to do it properly. I use ffmpeg for encoding, and use the following flags for audio:
Code: Select all
-acodec libfaac -ac 2 -ab 256k -ar 44100

Re: getting better youtube audio quality
Audio quality of uploaded video depends of video quality. If V quality is worse than expected to audio, than audio bitrate Is reduced to fit the P format (1080, 720, 360 etc), though.
So, If you render 360P with audio 320kbps, is caouse lowering audio Q to mmm, 96 or 128kbps.
Right now, 720P is limited to 152kbps in AAC fomat.
