This group is a good example of what I aim for with my DS tunes.
Tortoise- Seneca This song is from their album "Standards"

Ok, I'm having some trouble getting this video going. But there's the link, check them out.
Cool. I love Tortoise. I saw them with Stereolab at the London Astoria (I think that's where it was) in '95. Great gig.

Man I could list a lot of stuff, too. A lot of it falls into Post-Rock and New Wave. I also like Noise and Ambient music.

My classic influences - definitely Joy Division/New Order, Kraftwerk, Suicide, Brian Eno, David Bowie (especially his ambient stuff like the last half of Low), Radiohead, Yoko Kanno, OMD, Japan, Erasure, Soft Cell (let's just say New Wave and 80s/90s Alt. Dance in general...), The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, Mogwai...

Stuff I've been fairly obsessed with lately - Liars, Deerhoof, Deerhunter, LCD Soundsystem, Rovo, Boredoms, M83, OOIOO, Sparklehorse...

I make Youtube mixtapes on my channel. Might have to do an influences one....

This is seriously one the most insane pieces of music I've ever heard.

Extreme glitch/noise. The use of vocals is very smart, works well on the brain :D.

Yeah that's nice. Love the projection work too!

As for my influences... that's a pretty broad question. As far as chiptunes go I was heavily impressed (back in the day) by Sega Genesis game soundtracks. The title theme for Outlander and a lot of the tunes in Herzog Zwei I still listen to from time to time.

As far as conventional music... I grew up on my sister's handdown records. Beatles, Monkees, Led Zeppelin. Don't listed to those much anymore. Later it was Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd and the Police.... I was a child of the 70s & 80s. Eventually it turned into Flipper, Sex Pistols, Big Black and Nirvana and the like. Anything rough and screamy and with distortion involved. Somewhere in there I got into Skinny Puppy and started to get into weird noise stuff like Zoviet France and P16.D4. Then I went through a big Underworld and Aphex Twin phase in the late 90s. Also caught the tail-end of the mod scene and did some 8-bit tracking. The Legendary Pink Dots, Negativland & Emergency Broadcast Network are also pretty crucial to my development. And I should probably throw Radiohead in here somewhere. First time I heard Thom Yorke sing I asked my friend who "that chick singing was"? LOL! And Johnny Greenwood's soundtrack for There Will Be Blood blows my mind. I'm sure I'm leaving a ton of stuff out.

So, lately, though... I've been all over the place. Got back into electronica after a friend turned me onto Drone Zone on soma.fm and discovered circuit-bending. It all just seemed to click into place finally. These days I am really into Lustmord and Scorn. The new Meat Beat Manifesto album is pretty amazing. Back in 2006 I was lucky enough to get to work on an alternative festval called Brainwaves doing video projection. Met Edward Ka-Spel from Legendary Pink Dots and Stephen Stapleton from Coil. Also got to (after a fashion) work with the late Peter Christopherson from Throbbing Gristle at the second one of those festivals in 2008 as well as ex-members of Zoviet France and Meat Beat Manifesto among others. It was an amazing opportunity! One of the amazing realizations I had there was that these legendary performers were actually very down-to-earth regular people. They all came up to the balcony where we had our jury-rigged live computer video projection setup and told us we reminded them of themselves when they were starting out. Very encouraging. Wish it had happened 15 years earlier.

Anyways... I forget what I was talking about so I am just going to end this here in the hopes that gives you some sort of idea who I am and what I am into.

I actually came back here to look this one track up again... I need to track some of these down.

Also, I just found out a band I really like uses the DS-10 on their newest album!

(he shows off his Hello Kitty DS running DS-10 about halfway through the video.)

And of course DeadMau5, Daft Punk, and Kraftwerk.

Also, I listen to a lot of music from SNES and N64 games.
