What to buy? DS versus DSi and KORG DS 10

I am living in the Netherlands and i want to get myself a KORG DS 10 software synthesizer .

I don't have a DS or DSi, so I must buy one . I prefere the DSi XL.
I don't have the DS 10 KORG software, so I have to buy that as well.

There are some options:
1, Buy the DSi from Amazon America and by the DS 10 KORG PLUS software also from Amazon America.
Q. can I play games bought in Europe on a device from America?
2. Buy the DSi in the Netherlands and buy the DS 10 KORG (not PLUS) from amazon.
Q. Will the DS 10 KORG software work on a DSi bought in the Netherlands. Are there regional issues for the DS 10 KORG as well.

Can anyone give some advice?

Pretty sure normal DS games can be played on any DS and that its DSi enhanced games are region-protected. (maybe someone can verify this...i only use my DSi for Korg DS10+ right now)

Yes but you'd be as well buying a 2nd hand DS Lite if you are going to do that.

Btw - I really recommend DS10+ on DSi over anything else. Its worth it for double the synths and double the song time (due to the A-B setting while in song mode). Whatever handheld you end up buying (DS or DSi), buy DS10+ not DS10, there are a few improvements over the first version (esp. allowing tweaking while in song mode) that make it the one to get.
