Thanks guys. Luckily i kept the outline selection of the sky in an earlier project save so i can tweak, copy and paste a new version in without too much trouble. I strayed away from blue because i wanted to make it seem more alien and kept it light in shade to stop the 'monolith' and the space dude from sinking into the background,.

I definately like the slightly darker monolith in Anthony's version and i could add some more detail to the sky. I'll try some variations on colour and shade and upload later today....

....maybe i could model it on the nice british sky we have today. A single shade of grey. :(

And this totally trumps whatever I was doing, I guess :)
Yeah the colors are nice but it's too busy.

I say: DROP ALL THE TEXT. The image speaks for itself and evokes curiosity.

Cool idea, you could save all the text for the track list i guess, if there is one.

I've darkened the monolith and altered the sky gradient. It still needs a tydy and i may add a moon and stars etc, but i wanted opinions so far.

I think it looks great! You could mess with adding some stars etc but I like the minimal aspect that is happening now.

I'm totally on board with ChrisLody's cover but I have been having some fun in CS4 and learning a few tricks from my girlfriend who is a graphic designer (she helped me with the software only and accepts no credit for any of my amateurish design). So, just for some fun, I thought I would share this last image with you.

Nice. I like the lense flare effect, must be nice to know someone who knows there way around the software properly.

I'm using Gimp and a graphics tablet and basically just scribling away like i'm still using paints. I added a super subtle moon t balance the image a little, i removed the earlier image as they are so similar. Think its about done.

Looks good! I like it. A minimalist style is always clean and sleek. :D
It's quite mysterious too.

On my rendition, I removed all the text and added two moons. I suppose I'll keep my artwork for a remix track if I ever make one. =)

Thanks.

If you need any of the earlier versions of the image to play around with let me know and i'll send them to you. I have spent all day playing around with a version of ArtRage that came free with my wife's Wacom tablet that i forgot all about. I wish i'd discovered it before i started this really, its pretty cool stuff!

Oh, that's okay. I'm completely fine with the version that I have now. Thanks, though! =)
Still pumped for the release; whenever it is. :D

Hi Harley and All,

Do you think there is room for me to slip in?
I started working on a song about the odd-shaped
plutoid "Haumea" today...

Here is a sketch that I have posted on twaud.io, just to give you an
idea of where I'm at right now.
I still have an unused track and about half a dozen empty patterns
so I plan to continue working on this, in hope of finishing it before
Harley cuts off the compilation offer...

I am using DS-10+ but I plan to finish this song in single mode.

cheers,

mistyminds.

Cool. I like your song a lot. It would be a great addition to the compilation if you finish it. :)
Hopefully, there will be room for your submission.

my thoughts upon looking at ChrisLody's latest cover is that colour-wise, it should either heavily evoke mars, or heavily evoke the moon. right now i'm not exactly sure which it is.

if it's the former, then everything should be red-orange -- even the brown dirt could be pushed towards the red end of the spectrum.

if it's meant to evoke the moon, then the whole surface should be grey and have the blue space background w/ stars that AnthonySeeha used.

either way, the only other thing i would suggest is not going tooooo crazy with the fonts. something easy to read, maybe even as simple as what Decktonic was using could be effective if it's laid out with enough care. also be careful not to stretch the font horizontally or vertically, that usually just makes the font look wrong.

Anyway, my tune is nearly finished - just doing a pass on the panning. will send it soon!

I was just going for a non specific unknown alien planet vibe.

Ds10Dominator suggested no text at all, i quite like that idea.

I'm still open to ideas though but I guess i should ask HarleyLikesMusic for any final decisions on the art work, he's organising it afterall.
