Have had a few listens over the whole album now, and gotta say overall I really dig your stuff. I keep going back to the following tracks:

her head is in the clouds... awesome shuffled feel
fight town... crazy! Love the drums, bass, melody... one of my favourite DS10 tracks to date
the future is bright... epic, and another all time DS10 favourite.

Keep up the good work!

Forgot to mention, do you have an influence of music from the Megadrive/Genesis era of games? Most of the tracks sound like they could be alternative soundtracks to Streets Of Rage or something.

thanks for listening to the album guys! one of my goals with this album is to help cement the DS-10 as a legitimate compositional tool that could be capable of more sophisiticated high-concept work.

it's easy for people to dismiss most DS-10 music because they claim that it's usually just a bunch of patterns and flimsy noises strung together -- a claim that is actually correct in a lot of cases, unfortunately. i wanted to show that it doesn't have to be the case; but it does require creative ways of making the most out of the limited pattern data, and a solid understanding of the musical concepts needed to enable the tracks to convey the intended idea.

if there are any other forums/communities that i should share this album on, i'd be interested to know.

i never owned a megadrive/genesis so it was never really a blanket influence on me.

"fight town" contains probably the best example of two of the strongest influences on the album: the demoscene, and japanese games. the demoscene influences and their aesthetic (melodies demonstrating a strong musical literacy) are most prominent in the c64-style bass and percussion, whereas the japanese beat-em-up genre of games (as well as the aesthetic of the various locales therein) contribute to the frenetic pace of the song overall.

but really, it's fair to say that there a ton more influences on the album's songs - i purposely went through a wide range of styles mainly to see if they were possible. i don't like being tied down to a particular "style".

That's suprising, i would have swarn there was a megadrive influence. Guess i must have heard the general japanese games soundtracks in general. They sure know how to make game music! :D

for those who like bandcamp, i also put my album here: http://bryface.bandcamp.com/album/how-to-dodge-lasers

anywhere else i should place this album? (except myspace, that place is a sty hole.)

also i've started posting youtube videos of my album tracks again - "evolving" is here: http://ds10forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=854

thanks for the feedback everyone - I'm glad everyone is finding something to like about the album. i almost have enough new material for another album later this year, so there's definitely more on the way!

A multitude of styles are traversed in the 14 songs here, including frantic game bleeps, calculated house riffs, frantic drum and bass rhythms, orchestral articulations, and adjective plurals.

Ok you win, I'll listen to your album.
