Sidechaning Tutorial

Hey everybody. I now have my first tutorial video on Youtube.
I show you my technique on sidechaining in the video.
The instructions are REALLY silly, but they get the job done. xD

Thanks for the video, it sounds really nice. I didn't think of using the saw lfo for some reason. I don't think your instructions are silly by the way, its a lot neater than my talk through tutorials

I've been playing round with fake sidechaining since i heard you using it in your tracks and have been using a method very similar to your method 1 you can use too. If you set the kaoss x or y to control the 'level' for the synth you can program the pumping in the same way but you can also use the kaoss pads smooth option (SMT) which is useful. I suppose you could swap methods between patterns depending on which bit of the synth you need for different sounds.

Due to a small bug in ds-10 however you will need to remind it when the sequencer stops that its set to SMT by clicking the control twice, it forgets for some reason.

Actually I think they're quite simple and clear. Nice touch with clips of your own music before and after.

Unfortunately it seems to make no difference if the modulation is recorded or programmed in manually. If you try recording some cutoff and resonance changes over a long legato note for example, then switch back and forth between SMT and HLD you can hear the difference it makes. Once the sequencer stops and restarts it always reverts to the HLD type modulation, even though the button can show HLD or SMT. Luckily it doesn't affect patterns that are set to SMT and then triggered while the sequencer is running so it can still be used, it just takes a bit more work than it should do.

This doesn't affect either of Antony's mehtods though.

I'm not sure as i only own the original version. In fact i can't get the plus version in the UK and there's no plans to release it which is a shame.
