Post by forficule » Wed Dec 08, 2010 7:46 pm

Hello,
i'm looking for a good dubstep bass sound...
May be with some wobble using the synth patch ?
Have you got tricks and tips ?
Thanks

You ought to check out DS-10 Dominator's collection of save files found in this thread: http://ds10forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=425

"Korg is Massive" and "Dubstep Gives Me Food" in particular have good examples of wobble basses you might be interested in. And if you don't have a means of getting the files on your own device, try using a DS emulator.

Yeah I guess they'll be helpful, 'Dubstep gives me food' has the deepest wobble, 'My Blood' has the most agressive one.

I've been planning forever to make a video tutorial out of this, maybe one day...

Thanks
I've got a problem with save files ; i'm a ubuntu user, i've got no winxp/vista/7 at home... i use my nds adaptor when i can get a pc with xp and save my stuff this way...
So i'm waiting for the video tutorial !
I've found a wobble effect using the patch this way : mg bpm ; freq almost 3 o'clock ; jigsaw on vco2 pitch in ; voc2 pitch at 3 o'clock... My bass sound uses 2 vco, no sync and vco2 tuned by hand, tweak balance between vco1 and vco2, tweak vcf (cutoff at 10, peak at 2, eg int at 2, lpf), tweak eg (decay and sustain is the key)...
The wobble effect can work with hithat to get a reverb like effect, it's usefull with 70-80 bpm songs...

unless i am sadly mistaken, there's a version of the save app that runs on linux, it's the java one made by Quanuckshin (sp?). actually, it should run on anything that has a java interpreter, which i find tres cool.

Yes the save app works on linux, but it works with files already saved, it's not like a driver for nds adaptor...
Anyway, still working on my bass sound ; and i'm discovering the ds10 limitation vs the ds10+ ;)

Do you mean the song mode and DSi differences? I was under the impression the synth design and sounds were the same.

@ NeoS : yes, but I've used ds10+ first, then I get a ds10 (ebay bargain ;)), and there's tiny stuff annoying when you're playing with the ds10 : drum editing, and mute with songs (it saves so many patterns !)
@Decktonic : thanks a lot !
