A settings/patch collection

Post by AudioArtist » Fri Jan 07, 2011 5:57 am

First off, Much thanks to board member Inkmo for sharing his "recipe card"!

Here's the start of my settings/patch collection, in it you will find:
Kick drum
Snare drum
Hi-Hat
Cymbal
Floor tom/Toms
Timbale
Upright Bass
70's Electric Piano
Hammond Organ

Plus a few tricks!
I'm just going to post a link to my facebook album so as not to upload so many attachments and take up valuable space on the site.
I tried my best to be as acurate as possible and I attempted to get the appearance of the line "breakup" as close as I could to how it appears on screen inside the "game". In the captions you'll find a few notes, tips, and some rambling statements. I hope to continue to add to this over time so I'll probably just bump this topic when I have lets say 5-8 new sounds to share. I hope you enjoy them, and remember that they're not set in stone and your own tweaking on them may yield awesome results, and maybe you'll share. :)

Here's some audio of the sounds,

You're welcome! Everyone is Welcome!
In the short time I've been a member here I've already learned, heard and seen new stuff that others have shared so it's only fair to return the favor.

Thank you. I think audio samples would be appreciated, since it's quite some work to rebuild te patches.

Ok, I'll put a quick sample together later this evening. Should have done that anyway but I'm lazy sometimes, and it takes a while to fill out the cards.

Alright, here is a track with the sounds.
What's been added:
Mallets-marimba like
Cello
singing bowl- (the example in this track is wrong, listen to my tune in the Journey through Space thread to hear what it should sound like)
Distorted tapping guitar
bottle percussion - I'll get the patch sheet posted for this sound tonight

Thanks! Use them, I think it would be neat to hear what others write with sounds I created. You can probably tell I kind of lean towards "modeling" sounds rather than just creating interesting noises but ,I do that to, of course.
Next on the list of sounds to make will be more percussion stuff, I find these to be rather difficult, bongo, congas, dumbek, djembe, claves, vibra-slap,etc. Hopefully, I'll start having some more success with percussion. Also I'm gonna try to get a Hammer Dulcimer sound. We'll see.

Alright, got a few new sounds here.

Old Piano-(bad piano)
Sleigh Bells/Sticks on cymbal sand- based on the orchestra hit video that you can find in this forum
Chimes
Palm mute Bongo
Hammer Dulcimer

In the audio I also included the bottle percussion and singing bowl sounds from the previous audio track as they sound correct now.
Enjoy them, use them, let me hear what you do with them!

I always just sound design specifically for a track I'm working on. I think it's great that you spend time to design sounds for there own sake. I think it's a creative path that I may follow - sounds first then use them. Great work!

@Syscrusher^
Well thanks for that! I try really hard to get as close to the "real" sound of certain things as I can. It's nice to have an arsenal of settings at hand when you're in the mood for some vintage keys with upright bass, or a creepy piano with some mallet like sound. I find having as many sounds already archived really helps with the creative process, it's like picking up a keyboard where all the sounds are ones you made, which makes it more special. That way you can focus more on your melody and accompanyment rather than create one sound for an hour. However, At least 60% of the appeal of this "game" to me is creating my own sounds, but no one is going to write like me so why not share them? If you use any of them let me know.

I may have to use some of these sounds because I've been getting into the habit of using the same sounds over and over :)

At least 60%. When the M01 comes down in price I may buy one but it still only holds moderate interest to me because of it's sound editing limitations.
I'll be sure to let you know if I end up using any of your sounds.

Thanks for pointing that out to me angrydroid. The link in the first post still works but the one further down the list doesn't. I'll fix it, or maybe not :?: Just use the link in the first post.
Thanks for checking my sounds out, let me hear what you do if you use any.:)
