Hello hello. Here are some of the tracks I've written in the last year on my DS-10.
1) Original #1 "Funky Wings of Legend" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaFKiSibtSQ
So this is the first thing I ever wrote on the DS-10. I wrote in during Christmas week 2 years ago. I had messed around with a few trial tracks before recording this one. It was originally going to be my take on the old old NES game Legendary Wings (I might have just dated myself there) but towards the end of the track it turns into more of a Daft Punkish sort of thing. Recorded on my bathroom floor
2) MIDI Copying -
Guile's theme - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1yNw4mz7yU
Boomer Kuwanger's theme - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms46YTcMoVQ
So these two are just kind of half jokes half practice. I had done very little electronic music writing or subtractive synthesis before getting the DS-10 as I said in my introduction post. These little projects were supposed to be practice for getting sounds I wanted out of the controls the DS-10 offers. The first one is Guile's theme from the Street Fighter games and the second is Boomer Kuwanger's theme from Megaman X. These tracks will probably show you why I'm better suited to writing on the M01. Anyhow it was fun while I tore my hair out trying to get for example a brass sound out of the DS-10. I used Midi data from the theme's I downloaded and copied them into the DS-10 until I ran out of space (patterns) and then just ended them.
3)Original #2 "Frogs a hoppin'" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZd43mz6E5k
This one was pretty fun to do. I don't usually write music in Maj keys, or at least I haven't in the past, so I wanted to take a crack at it in this one. It turned out pretty peppy, reminds me of the Kirby games, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Frogger 3D. Anyhow, writing this one also gave me the chance to try out the swing feature in the DS-10.
4) Cave Story Balcony Remix - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z3j3mKDNVE
I wrote a remix of the Balcony theme from the game Cave Story for PC. Its a really neat little game and I highly recommend it if you like rpgs or platformers. The first half of the song is my approximation of the original track, then in the second half I play around with it a bit. Kaoss pad is always amusing. Also made use of panning more than I usually do in this. I wrote this in November so its the newest thing I've done on my DS-10 which is now being neglected since I have acquired the M01
I'll be posting a couple things in the M01 section too, although I don't have as much for it yet since I just got it. Feel free to leave comments, its always fun to hear other peoples opinions if they have them on my music.
