SpamGhetti (cheerful 8bit on Korg M01)

This song was just an experiment to see if I could make a song that sounds like it's 8bit, using Korg M01. I think I succeeded on that front, but the song has some slightly off-putting harmonies, so yeah. Still, it's a good song! Hope you like it.

Constructive criticism is welcome.

Nice, I like the 'off' harmonies... sounds good to me.

It sounds like there's some detuned bells or something? What kind of instrument is that on the M01?

Thanks, man! I guess I shouldn't have been worried.

They're not bells, they're called 'VS 89', and they're under the Lead Synth category.

Good job, you have a good ear for a varied melody. That's what I lack, I'm much better with the DS10 then I am with the M01 in that respect.

What drums did you use? Really crunchy and nice, I don't think I've come across them before. Does this have any swing to it? Or is it at 50? Does the BPM stay the same or change through out??

Here's a challenge for you, make a track using only drums from the M01... Look forward to hearing it! hahaha

Thanks man! I try to make just enough variety in the melody that it loops right when the listener wants it to loop.

The kick drum is from the minimal kit, and the snare is from the 8bit noise instrument.

About that challenge, I don't think I could do it; I just don't know enough different drumming techniques to entertain the listener for a whole song. I might try it out some day, but right now I'm working on a cover of Magic Dance from Jim Henson's Labyrinth.
